Not sure where to start?
Undecided which course is right for you?
Tell us where you’re at and what you’d love to do — we’ll help you find the right route, funded or paid. No pressure, no jargon.
The terms that apply when you book or enrol with us.
These terms apply to every course you book with The Hair and Beauty College Limited (“HBC”, “we”, “us”). By enrolling — whether through `/enrol`, by email, by phone, or in person — you confirm you’ve read and accept what’s set out below.
If anything’s unclear, get in touch on 01925 747371 or enrol@thehairandbeautycollege.co.uk and we’ll talk it through before you commit.
Last updated: 2026-05-04 (v1 — awaiting Paula sign-off + solicitor review)
The form at `/enrol` collects your interest. Your place is provisional until:
You don’t pay HBC anything upfront. Fees go directly from SLC to HBC once your loan is approved. We can’t apply for the loan on your behalf — and we wouldn’t want to.
To secure your place we’ll send you a payment link after we’ve confirmed availability (usually within a few hours during opening times). Your seat is locked once payment lands. Until then, dates may shift if a course fills up.
You can pay by:
Other payment methods are not accepted.
A non-refundable 25% deposit is required at enrolment to secure your place. The remaining balance is due at least 28 days before your course start date.
If you’re paying by Payl8r or Clearpay, the deposit and balance are handled within the finance agreement at checkout — you don’t pay us a separate deposit on top.
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have 14 calendar days from the date of enrolment to cancel and receive a full refund of any payment made (including the deposit) — provided the course has not yet started. To cancel within the 14 days, email enrol@thehairandbeautycollege.co.uk with your enrolment reference.
If you start the course inside the 14-day window, you waive the right to a full refund for the portion of the course already delivered. We’ll refund the unused portion on a pro-rata basis at our discretion.
Once 14 days have passed since enrolment, deposits are non-refundable. Course balance refunds are at our discretion and depend on how much notice you give:
| Notice given before course start | What you get back |
|---|---|
| More than 28 days | Full balance refunded; deposit retained |
| 14–28 days | 50% balance refunded; deposit retained |
| Fewer than 14 days | No refund — full balance retained |
| Once the course has started | No refund — at our discretion in cases of serious illness or bereavement (see Sickness below) |
We very rarely cancel, but if we have to (under-recruitment, tutor unavailability, force majeure) we’ll:
We don’t reimburse travel, accommodation, or childcare costs incurred for a cancelled session — please factor that into your travel arrangements.
You can transfer your enrolment to a different course or a later start date once, subject to availability, for a transfer fee of £50 plus any difference if the new course costs more.
Conditions:
Transfers are not available on package or multi-course bookings (see section 7).
We reserve the right to change course dates, the venue, the named tutor, or course content where reasonably necessary — for example because a tutor is unwell, a room is unavailable, or syllabus updates are issued by the awarding body. We’ll give you as much notice as we can and offer you the closest equivalent option.
If a change means you can no longer attend, we’ll refund any payment made for the affected session.
We don’t reimburse travel costs caused by such changes, weather disruption, transport strikes, or any event outside our control.
Practical training is hands-on and full attendance is required. Missed sessions affect your portfolio, your progression to assessment, and your awarding-body sign-off.
Tell us as early as you can on 01925 747371 or by email. If you’re absent for two or more consecutive sessions, we may ask for a doctor’s note or fit note before scheduling catch-up sessions.
Catch-up sessions are free — we don’t charge you to make up missed practical time. We’ll book them around tutor availability and your schedule.
We ask you to disclose any medical conditions, allergies, medications, or learning differences at enrolment so we can support you safely. This information is held confidentially per our Privacy Statement and shared only with your tutor on a need-to-know basis. Some treatments aren’t suitable for some conditions — your tutor will brief you before each practical.
Some treatments (particularly chemicals, electrolysis, microneedling, certain massages) aren’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell us as soon as you know — we’ll adapt your training plan or pause your enrolment without penalty.
The Hair and Beauty College operates from a single ground-floor location at 78 Bridge Street, Warrington. There are no stairs to access the salon floor, treatment rooms, or office — entry is level from Bridge Street.
If you have a specific access requirement (mobility, hearing, vision, neurodiversity, or anything else), tell us at enrolment and we’ll work out adjustments together. Get in touch on 01925 747371 or enrol@thehairandbeautycollege.co.uk.
We’re committed to making training accessible. If we can’t meet a specific requirement (e.g. a tool that physically can’t be adapted), we’ll tell you straight rather than enrol you and hope for the best.
If you book two or more courses together, the following apply on top of the standard terms:
Per the locked HBC pricing rule, we don’t run discounts at launch — package bookings give you scheduling certainty, not a price reduction.
Course notes, slide decks, video content, workbooks, observation records, and any digital learning resource produced by HBC remain HBC’s intellectual property. You’re free to use them for your personal study and ongoing professional reference; you can’t reproduce them for resale, training others outside HBC, or any commercial use without written permission.
Course notes and recordings are provided in good faith as a study aid — they don’t replace tutor-led practical teaching and aren’t intended as a complete reference for clinical decision-making in your own practice.
Awarding-body materials (VTCT, Focus Awards, The CPD Group) remain the property of those bodies and are subject to their own terms.
Several of our courses require you to practise on live models (real people, not mannequins or training heads) to meet awarding-body requirements.
For funded VTCT diploma students, we maintain a Model Group — a list of volunteers who’ve signed up to receive treatments at student-model rates. Your tutor will help match you to models from the list.
For CPD short courses, live models are not part of the course (per HBC policy — CPD is theory and demonstration-led). If a CPD course requires you to bring a model — see your specific course page — we’ll tell you when you enrol.
You’re responsible for your own model’s reliability. If your model doesn’t show up to an assessment, you may be charged a missed-assessment fee under section 10.
Models you bring yourself must:
Assessment dates are scheduled with your tutor and confirmed in writing. 48 hours’ notice is required for cancellation — anything later is treated as a missed assessment.
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Missed assessment session (less than 48hr notice or no-show) | £75 |
| Re-sit of a failed practical or written assessment | £50 |
We don’t charge for additional observation sessions, portfolio re-marks, or action-planning catch-ups — those are part of your enrolment.
The two fees above cover tutor time and awarding-body re-submission costs; they’re not punitive. Where a missed assessment is the result of a verified illness or emergency, the fee is waived at our discretion.
Your qualification is built from coursework — written assessments, observation records, portfolio submissions — that you produce throughout the course, not at the end.
Every unit you cover comes with one or more pieces of coursework. As you finish each piece, hand it in. Don’t stockpile — that’s how learners get overwhelmed three weeks before the awarding-body deadline.
Coursework should be handed in within 2 weeks of the session it relates to. That keeps the marking flow steady, and it keeps the material fresh in your head while you write it up.
Once you’ve handed work in:
This back-and-forth is normal and expected — most learners redo at least some pieces. Redoing isn’t failing, it’s how training works. There’s no charge for re-marks or redo cycles (see section 10).
Your course is “complete” when:
That usually aligns with your final scheduled teaching session, but the exact date depends on how quickly you submit and how many redo cycles each piece needs.
(Serious illness, bereavement, redundancy, family crisis.) Talk to us. We can extend submission windows or pause your enrolment. We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again where the case is real.
If you have unfinished coursework after your final scheduled teaching session, we’ll set a personalised completion plan with you. The risks of letting it drift:
We don’t want either of those to happen. Stay in regular contact and we’ll find a route through.
Once you’ve passed your assessments and the awarding body has issued your certificate, you can:
Certificates are issued by the awarding body, not HBC. Lost or damaged certificates are replaced by the awarding body directly (VTCT / Focus Awards / The CPD Group) — fees and timescales vary by body. We can help you start the process, but we can’t issue duplicates ourselves.
While you’re training with HBC, we expect you to:
If you breach these standards, you’ll be given:
You have the right to appeal any formal sanction under our Policies & Procedures. For full safeguarding, equality, anti-bullying and complaints procedures, see that page.
We carry professional indemnity, public liability, and treatment liability insurance appropriate to a beauty/aesthetics training environment. Models and clients on the salon floor are covered while a treatment is being delivered by a student under tutor supervision.
Our liability is limited as follows:
We don’t accept liability for:
Funded course tuition is a contract between you, HBC, and Student Loans Company. Disputes about loan terms, eligibility, or repayment are between you and SLC and fall outside this T&C.
How we handle your personal data — what we collect, why, who it’s shared with, and how long we keep it — is set out in our Privacy Statement.
Cookies on this website are managed under our Cookie Policy.
Tell us as soon as something doesn’t sit right — most issues are resolved with a conversation. If a quick chat doesn’t fix it, we have a formal Appeals and Complaints Procedure at Policies & Procedures. The process gives you up to 20 working days for HBC to investigate and respond, with onward escalation routes to the relevant awarding body.
We may update these terms from time to time (awarding-body changes, regulatory changes, scheduling reality). The current version always lives at this URL with the Last updated date at the top. Material changes are notified to existing students by email; non-material changes go live without separate notification.
Your continued enrolment after notification of a change constitutes acceptance.
These terms are governed by English law. Disputes that can’t be resolved through our complaints procedure will be heard in the courts of England and Wales.
